The Telfer Competitions Committee (TCCT) is a student run organization started by an ambitious group of competitors. The goal is to create an enriching learning experience through case competitions. TCCT has grown to be a staple of the “Telfer experience,” sending over 300 competitors annually to competitions such as JDC Central (JDCC), Jeux du commerce (JDC) and Happening Marketing (HM).
AIESEC is the world's largest youth-led non-profit organization. We are partnered with the United Nations in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We do this by helping youth gain access to cross-cultural internship and volunteer exchanges. We also focus on companies and NGOs in the Ottawa area in order to create opportunities for international youth.
CASCO is the Telfer School of Management’s student-run charity organization. CASCO was founded in September 1998 as an initiative through the shared vision between Alexandre St-Jean and Tuan Nguyen. They both wanted to show support, raise money, and honour their dearly departed friend Eric Danis, who passed away from Leukemia. CASCO organizes and participates in various other community events and produces an Annual Gala showcasing the talents of our student philanthropists. Over the past 20 years, we have raised more than $625,000 for CHEO.
DECA is an international organization that provides future leaders practical experience using cases comprising of a wide array of realistic business scenarios. Personalized trainings prepare our delegates to compete on a national stage at the Annual Provincials Competition hosted in Toronto, as well as various Invitational Conferences hosted by other university chapters. Delegates have the option to compete individually or with a partner of their choice across numerous categories. Cases are curated by industry professionals and provide ample learning opportunities unparalleled by any classroom.
Enactus is a global non-profit with chapters in countries across the globe that aims to empower students to use entrepreneurial action to create a better world. At Enactus uOttawa, we do this by building businesses that make change economically, socially and environmentally. Each one of our businesses is created and operated by students on our team, in conjunction with community partners and sponsors. We also compete in competitions on a regional, national and international level, showcasing our impact to business executives from some of the largest companies in the world.
With the increasing demand of technology focused jobs in the workplace, MISA provides support and resources to help students excel in finding opportunities in tech-related fields, as well as to stay informed through the constant influx of the technology industry. We do this by hosting a variety of events throughout the school year such as: MISA Connects, coding workshops, and a hackathon. MISA Connects is a networking style event which allows students to meet and connect with industry professionals with employers for companies such as Pythian, KPMG, Accenture, PageCloud, and more.
The Telfer Accounting Club is a student-run not-for-profit organization at the Telfer School of Management. Our mission is to promote the social, academic, and professional development of students interested in the accounting profession at the Telfer School of Management. This development is accomplished through the club’s social, educational, and networking events that serve both students and professionals.
The Telfer Finance Society seeks to educate its members on the subject of Finance. This club reaches out to not only business students, but also Economics, Politics, Engineering, and students from all other faculties. With a team of 14, the Executives look forward to welcoming new members for the 2018-19 academic year and are eager to share some of the amazing events, improvements, and other surprises that have been added to the club. This includes the annual Speaker Series, Toronto Trip, Case Competition, interactive workshops, and a surprise new event! Members can also look forward to building connections with industry professionals, membership appreciation days, and special discounts off all of our events and food at the freshii on campus.
The Telfer Human Resources Association is all about #Engaging you in a wide variety of experiences and #Expanding your knowledge on Human Resources. As a Telfer HRA member, you will meet local HR Professionals and leaders within HR operational roles like compensation, HR data analytics, recruitment, as well as learn about the Organizational Development side of HR, which includes Organizational Behaviour, Employment Engagement Strategies and Coaching Practices. All of this content will be shared with you through a variety of events like our Wine and Cheese Networking event, Networking Brunch, workshops, office tours and more with member-exclusive discounts!
Telfer International is the International Business Club at Telfer School of Management. Our unique club aims to promote international awareness as well as the importance of world-wide collaboration within the Telfer School of Management. We strive not only to connect the students of Telfer with the exchange students of our partner institutions, but also to connect these students with local businesses. We have a number of events, both professional and social, to help connect Students. Some of our events include Pub nights, Student Talks, office tours, exchange fairs, and more! The Telfer Law Society is an organization which aims to educate uOttawa students about the study of law and assist students in their preparation for law school. We organize networking, academic and social events which allow our members to meet with industry professionals and other likeminded students. Our main events include Speaker Series: Legally Speaking, the Ladies of the Law brunch and our annual mock trial. The Telfer Law Society also runs an internship programme which allows members to gain work experience at local law firms.
The Telfer Marketing Association is an organization that strives to expose students of Telfer to unique marketing experiences through professional, academic, and social events. Our organization takes pride in itself for delivering such diverse professional connections and the ability to enrich students with our creative events. By doing so, the Telfer Marketing Association positioned itself as one of the leading clubs on campus. Our goal is to provide students with unique opportunities to establish valuable connections, test their knowledge, develop their skills, create valuable networks, and most importantly - brand themselves.
The Entrepreneurs’ Club at the Telfer School of Management is a not-for-profit student-run organization. Our team devotes its time to organizing professional networking events to link students from the Telfer School of Management and the University of Ottawa with the business community while keeping the entrepreneurial theme in mind. The club aims to bring like-minded students and professionals together to create an inspirational atmosphere for start up ideas and pioneering opportunities. The goal is to expand the entrepreneurial spirit across the University of Ottawa campus and connect with local entrepreneurs to help drive student business start-ups.
